Comment Boards in the Community -
(Nampa, March 11, 2010) Nampa continues its efforts to gather community ideas for what Nampa should develop into by the year 2035. Tuesday night's workshop focused on city-wide needs, now the desire is to look at more specific areas, perhaps on a smaller scale.
Three sets of five boards with maps showing different areas of town are on display this week and next week around the community. Residents can give written comments on projects, zoning, or other ideas they have for each area. They can also place stickers on the maps showing the specific areas they are referring to in their comments.
The comment boards can be found this week, March 8th – 14th, at:
• Nampa Recreation Center
• Nampa Public Library
• Nampa Civic Center
Next week, March 15th – 21st, they will be located at:
• The Flying M
• Karcher Mall
• College of Western Idaho – Main Campus
The comment sheets can be filled out at the locations or they can be mailed to Rodney Ashby at 411 3rd St. So, Nampa, ID 83651. For more information or for questions call 468-4434 or email ashbyr@cityofnampa.us. Those participating in the comments can choose to have their names entered into a drawing. Drawing prizes include¬¬¬¬¬ Nampa Recreation Center Passes, Nampa Civic Center show tickets, gift certificates for swimming lessons, Nampa t-shirts and water bottles, Friends of Nampa Library honorary membership and book bag, and Grand Prize: Nampa Recreation Center Annual Pass. Comments must be returned by March 31 to qualify for the drawing.

| Special Curbside Service & Free Dump Day -
(Nampa, March 10, 2010) As part of an annual effort to clean up our neighborhoods, Nampa residents can put extra items to the curb during their regular trash pickup service April 26-30. Along with household trash, Allied Waste will accept old sofas, televisions, computer monitors, stoves, non-Freon appliances, mattresses and tree debris cut up in four foot sections. There is no limit on these items. Please call ahead for larger items so Allied Waste can provide the correct trucks and manpower to remove those items. The number to call is 345-1265.
Items NOT accepted at curbside include Freon appliances (i.e. refrigerators), tires, batteries, paints or hazardous materials. Those items can be taken to Pickles Butte Landfill at no charge on Saturday, May 1, 2010 during Free Dump Day.
During Free Dump Day, Nampa residents can each take up to one ton of household cleanup wastes at no charge to Pickles Butte Landfill. Residents are limited to one free trip and may also bring up to four passenger/light truck tires, one refrigeration unit (please leave the compressor in the unit), batteries, metal, up to 3 gallons of used motor oil, up to 5 gallons of paint, yard trimmings and general household garbage. Those who deliver waste in excess of one ton or exceed the limits for tires and refrigeration units will be charged based on normal landfill fees. Customers can expect to experience waits both entering and exiting the landfill of up to 60 minutes each way. For questions about Free Dump Day, Nampa residents may call 466-7288 ext. 224.

| 2010 Easter Egg Hunt -
(Wednesday March 10, 2010) The Nampa Firefighters Local 804, Giving Hand Bingo, and Western Cheer Elite, are pleased to announce the 2010 Easter Egg Hunt, Saturday, April 3, 2010, 10:00 a.m., at Skyview Park, Nampa, Idaho.
The Annual event draws hundreds of children from 0-10 years old to celebrate the Easter Season by “hunting” for Easter eggs filled with candy and tickets, redeemable at the event for various prizes.
As with previous years, the children will be divided into groups based on age and ability. The groups are divided into: a special needs section, 0-1 year old, 2 year old, 3-4 years old, 5-6 years old, 7-8 years old, and a 9-10 years old.

| City of Nampa Reaches Settlement with New Hope -
(Nampa, March 9, 2010) The lawsuit involving the City of Nampa and New Hope Community Health, Inc. regarding a residence at 2414 Stonehedge Drive, has been settled. A copy of the Settlement Agreement is attached to this release.

| Retirement Reception for Nampa Library Director -
Nampa -- Nampa Public Library Director Karen Ganske closes the book on her 31 year career at Nampa’s busy downtown library.
On Tuesday, March 16th community residents, friends, family, colleagues and city staff will gather to honor Ganske’s legacy of providing excellence in library and customer service. The reception will be held at the library from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, with a short program at 6:00 pm. Light refreshments will be served. Since the library is closed on Tuesdays, no library services will be available during the reception.
“Karen has served our community with distinction,” said former Nampa City Council member and former library board trustee Lynda Clark. “With great skill, she has steered the library through a period of dramatic growth, all while demonstrating her passion for library service and commitment to the people of Nampa.”
Ganske began work at the Nampa library in 1978, and has overseen huge increases in library use since she was hired as the director in 1988. In 1999 Ganske was awarded the Idaho Library Association “Librarian of the Year,” award for excellence in library service. Since 2000, Ganske has focused on gaining support and funding for a badly-needed new library to replace the current facility which is outdated and too small to meet the needs of the community. Her efforts are expected to be realized in a few years when a new library is expected to be built as a centerpiece for downtown redevelopment using funding through Nampa Development Corporation.
Library staff hates to see Ganske leave. “Despite the challenges of providing excellent customer service with limited resources, Karen’s calm demeanor and warm support helps us rise above the busy and stressful environment,” notes Ezequiel Luna, Page Department Supervisor. Camille Wood, Assistant Director, agrees, “I’ve always been impressed by Karen’s trust in her staff, by her positive and upbeat attitude, and by her creative perspective. “ In October 2008 library staff and supporters came together to honor Ganske’s then 30 years of service in a surprise celebration in which the mayor proclaimed October 20th, 2008 to be Karen Ganske Day.
Ganske and her husband Gary moved to Nampa in 1975 when he accepted a teaching job at NNU. Her two children, Karl and Anna both grew up in Nampa. Ganske plans to remain in Nampa and looks forward to spending time with her family and new grandson and to continue to support efforts to build a new Nampa library.
